radhanagar
time magazine wasn't exaggerating.
Radhanagar Beach — Beach No. 7 on Havelock — is the one that ends every argument about the best sand in Asia. Two kilometres of fine white powder, water that shifts from emerald to sapphire in ten steps, and sunsets that turn the entire bay molten gold.
The beach faces west, which means the evenings are the main event. Arrive an hour before sunset, walk north where the crowd thins out, and stay until the last colour leaves the sky. The water stays swimmable year-round in season — gentle waves, no undertow, safe for children and hesitant swimmers alike.
There's a small forest behind the beach — mahua and pandanus trees that provide shade in the afternoon heat. A couple of snack shacks sell coconut water and grilled corn; eat early because they close before dark. No water sports on the beach itself — that's the point. Just sand, sea, and silence.
